Application & Technical Sales Engineer · B2B Industrial Flow Control · Technical Content
I size valves and fluid systems, run technical proposals, and turn that expertise into content that ranks and gets cited by AI. Mechanical engineering background in flow control, oil and gas, and process, crossed with hands-on technical sales, SEO, and content strategy. An engineer who can also sell and write.
Client: A European B2B distributor of industrial components (valves, fittings, actuators), competing in the US market against the large incumbent catalogue suppliers. Engagement details shared with permission; client data withheld.
The problem: Core product category pages ranked on page one for head-term keywords but converted almost none of that visibility into clicks or sessions. Visibility in AI answer engines was effectively zero across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overview.
What I did:
Key finding: The site educates engineers thoroughly and then loses them to larger catalogue competitors at the moment of purchase. The highest-impact fix was contextual product callouts inside existing articles rather than new content.
Tools used: GA4, Google Search Console, Semrush, Claude (Anthropic), Perplexity AI, ChatGPT (AI visibility testing)
My conclusion: Deep technical content paired with direct checkout is a rare combination in this category. The strategy was built around exploiting that gap rather than competing on catalogue breadth.
Project type: Personal automation build — Python, APIs, Claude AI
